Summary/Abstract: Economic geography analyzes the unequal distribution of economic activity in the area, and evolutionary economics focuses on the historical processes of economic change. Evolutionary economic geography combines the achievements of these two areas explaining the phenomena related to the evolution of firms, industries, networks, cities and regions. The purpose of this theoretical study is a critical analysis of evolutionary economic geography literature relating to spatial systems. This assessment will identify the determinants of regional development and economic policy guidelines at the regional level. These considerations are a contribution to the discussion on regional policy in Poland.
