Developing Linguistic and Communicative Competences by Reading a Literary Text

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with using literary texts in teaching Russian as a foreign language. The study is based on the general belief that reading is a two-way process, where the participants of communication are located in different points of time and space. A trope is believed to be not only a microsystem of literary discourse, but also a way of creating the meaning. The linguistic commentation approach by N.Shansky has been employed. Commentation is surface only and concerned with the lexis describing the heroines.
