Elective course in the Russian language as a means of forming of professional competence in non-native medical students

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with forming professional competence through reading texts in technical language. Stated are communicative activity principles underlying the elective course “Foreign Language for Specific Purposes (Russian)". The motivation principle in the process of professional competence forming is taken into account. Emphasized is the work of special medical texts in forming a glossary of special terms. An extract of the coursebook is given as an example - the lesson on "Spleen". It includes the text, the system of pre-text, to text and after text exercises and homework. The keys are attached to the materials, which are given after brief comments.
