Summary/Abstract: The exhibition "Kola Silvashi" at the Ukrainian House this autumn revisits the artistic dialogue between tradition, modernity, and timelessness. Inspired by the 2000 exhibition at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, it aims to restore the sacredness of the space, previously profaned by a Soviet military school. The curators recreated the iconic blue pool, symbolizing a visual abyss, and emphasized the use of blue, a color with deep iconographic significance. The exhibition explores the influence of Byzantine art and the figure of Oranta, reflecting on the spiritual and cultural resilience of Kyiv. It also highlights the artistic circles that shaped Tiberiy Silvashi, including his mentors and contemporaries. The retrospective features works from 75 artists worldwide, showcasing the global dialogue in non-figurative art. The exhibition's conceptual design invites viewers to engage with the art on a tactile level, breaking the conventional boundaries of painting. Silvashi's reflections on color and space challenge the viewer to experience art beyond visual perception, emphasizing the ethical dimensions of artistic expression.
