Summary/Abstract: The article presents the specifics of insurance covering risks directly related to lending. The dynamic development of bancassurance cooperation has resulted not only in the popularization of already known types of insurance, but also in the creation and direct linking of new types of insurance to banking activities, covering risks traditionally not transferred to insurance companies. Further comments refer to the function of insurance recourse in relations involving banks. The core of the analysis, however, is the confrontation of these findings with the phenomenon of directing recourse claims against entities that ultimately bear the cost of insurance (borrowers). The normative assessment covers practical solutions adopted by credit institutions – treating credit risk insurance as a method of securing loan repayment, effectively shifting the cost of such insurance onto the borrower.
