Summary/Abstract: There are 120 years since the consecration of the Great Church of Sinaia Monastery, dedicated to “Holy Trinity”. The most important place of worship in the Prahova Valley has a rich social and cultural history, especially during the period of the Romanian Kingdom, given its close proximity to the Peleș Castle, the summer residence of the Royal Family. This research relies upon the inedited monastery archives as well as the journalistic periodicals of that period, which bring to light some unknown details: the previous church from 1843 was torn down and rebuilt, not just ‛renovated’, as it was mentioned by now in the history of Sinaia Monastery, the icon in pronaos of St. Sergius was offered to the monastery as a gift by King Charles I, after his visit in Russia ruled by Tsar Nicholas II Romanov, or the exterior ornaments were ordered and made at the famous Zsolnay Porcelain Factory in Pécs, as well as the roof of Pelișor Castle, inaugurated two days later than the monastery’s Great Church.
