Summary/Abstract: Józef Gidyński came from a family with multi-generational teaching traditions. After his parents decided to move from Starokrzepice near Częstochowa to Łódź, he received the opportunity to pursue secondary education. Though he joined the army, his true ambition was to study law. He managed to pursue this in the first years of the Second Polish Republic. His great intellectual capabilities and dedication to deepening knowledge won him a scholarship to continue his education in Paris. In the next years, he showed great determination in gaining qualifications to practice several legal professions, but he derived most satisfaction from working as an attorney, which he continued after emigrating to the United States of America, and even after his retirement.
