Summary/Abstract: During the last ten years SCORM has become the most used standard for content delivery. Moreover, the synergy between SCORM and Adobe Flash based content allow the developers to produce immersive learning environments which can be used in almost every training scenario. ASCENDIA Astronomy is a software application designed from the very beginning as a “moving target” project where the development team can “play with” the latest technologies. Interactive 3D engines, Augmented Reality, HD Ready resources and a series of innovations in the delivery of a SCORM 2004 compatible course are the main technologies which the Astronomy R&D project is currently incorporating. The first Release Candidate of ASCENDIA Astronomy is planned to be released in about one year. The next project iterations will bring support for multi-touch displays and optimisations which will qualify the course to run on a variety of devices from PCs to tablets and smart-phones.
