Summary/Abstract: The explosive development of the new communication technologies and media is the factor that fundamentally modified the coordinates of the cultural environment on which the education and development of children are based upon today. These media stand as windows to the world, new opportunities to gain access to information and sources of knowledge. Yet more recent studies have shown that there is also another side to the story. Excessive consumption of the media products, video games, web surfing and the addiction to these technologies results in serious cerebral damage and negatively affects the development of the cognitive capabilities of children and young people.
