Summary/Abstract: The present paper offers a theoretical – conceptual frame of one of the new manners of approaching the competitiveness in enterprises, such as – Business Intelligence. In fact, Business Intelligence represents the enterprises' capacity of administrating the informations that achives to obtain from various sources, so it can be taken strategic decisions, all with the purpose of obtaining competitive advantages. For constructing the Business Intelligence theoretical – concept frame, we appealed, firstly - to an comparison with other new tendencies (from the marketing side), like Knowledge Management and Benchmarking, highlighting the differences and the similarities. Further, we tried, in a synthetic manner to present a historical evolution of the concept and of the manner of its implementation in enterprises. In conclusion, we tried to present the possible future tendencies and developments of BI, their importance for practicioniers and for the enterprise's life, and their practical usage.
