MODERNIZATION AND WESTERNIZATION IN SPATIAL ECONOMY OF THE XXIST CENTURY

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents new challenges for spatial economy of the XXIst century. Spe¬cial attention is paid to sources, reasons, mechanisms and features of two processes determin¬ing modern civilization: modernization and westernization. The types of reactions of individ¬ual multispatial units for the pressure of the West and modernization are described. The author also presents the assumptions of international relations theory according to Samuel Hunting¬ton and the prerequisites and barriers of their practical applications in global economy.
