Summary/Abstract: A series of aspects connected with the understanding of the business culture has a negative impact upon effectiveness of operations of contemporary organisations. Numerous difficulties may arise from the fact that representatives of different cultures may perceive significance and motives of particular activities in different ways. Therefore, one of the great¬est challenges of international management is the ability to understand the culture of other persons. In this paper, the author presents selected aspects of cultural differences between employees from North America and China, who belong to the group of the most significant business cultures of the world. The author performed an analysis of such aspects as employees and social relationships, atmosphere and approach to business, communication in business, organisational structure and leadership, dress code as well as a typical working day.
