The implementation of IT technologies in socio-economic development of local governments. Research results

Summary/Abstract: The article is to show the role of local governments in encouraging social and economic development in the area of using IT instruments. Local governments can take active steps to support the development of citizens and companies by implementing available IT instruments. They can be divided into such areas as economic development support, social development, education spreading, mastering local office performance in delivering public services and promotion of tourism and recreation. The research has shown that the instruments that local governments may use are of various effectiveness, so they have to be careful while choosing specific set of activities. Many instruments are considered to be useless and may result in losing a lot of money and organizational effort.
