Summary/Abstract: Consumer behaviour is explained by a series of exogenous variables of sociologic nature including the consumer’s social and cultural environment components. The American sociologist Thorstein Veblen has more accurately identified the conspicuous side of this behaviour, which is particularly determined by our social role and statute, described in his book „The Theory of the Leisure Class”.
