Evolution of the City: From the Traditional to the Innovative

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study, which takes the form of a review, is to explain the processes that determine the evolution of the city. The first part describes the city as a social-urban and geographical unit, and also discusses a model for the evolution of the city. It assumes that the city is entering a new stage of development, in which it aims to be innovative. The study draws on disciplines including economy, geography, sociology, and urban studies.
