Summary/Abstract: The sketch presents the poem by Stanislaw Trembecki entitled Do Wojciecha Miera bawiącego na wsi (For Wojciech Mier Away in the Country), in which the author encourages the addressee of the poem to return to Warsaw, when he gets tired of country life, by balloon. In the rhyming footnote attached to the poem, Trembecki provided humorous origins (myth) explaining why it was the French that invented the balloon. In his sketch, Ryba shows interest in the myth borrowed by the author of the poem from the epistolary novel of Madame de Graffigny’s Lettres d’une Peruvienne. The French writer and her work (as a source of inspiration for Trembecki) have also become the subject of research.
