On the trails of wandering, paths of reading, and ducts of language on the genre and style of Mariusz Wilk’s "Northern diary"

Summary/Abstract: The paper argues that the genre of the “travel diary” which Mariusz Wilk uses in various parts of his "Northern Diary" entails characteristic stylistic choices. From the point of view of contemporary stylistics Wilk’s polimorphic work results from innovations and modifications of the structural, pragmatic, and semantic levels of the genre model. Wilk’s style, in which the lexical aspect is modified by interventions of the Russian language, archaic expressions and poetic phrases, is the effect of operations conducted by the author upon the semantic level of the genre model.
