Summary/Abstract: The edition provides access to correspondence between Polish historian Stanisław Zakrzewski (1873–1935) and his Czech colleague Jaroslav Bidlo (1869–1937) who were both prominent personalities of national historical schools. While Zakrzewski was specialized in the medieval Polish history, most of the works of Bidlo were focused on the Unity of Czech Brethren in the 16th century and its Polish exile branch. The edition consists of 21 letters. The oldest one is dated 1906 – four years after both men met for the first time in the city of Posen. The initial part of the series, which was written before the World War I, deals mostly with the exchange of publications and their reviews in Český Časopis Historický (Czech Historical Review) and Kwartalnik Historyczny (Historical Quarterly). After the war both scholars were engaged in the restoration of scientific contacts between the Czech and the Polish historiography. Zakrzewski and Bidlo also took part in setting up of a common platform for the East and Central European historians (Federation of the Historical Societies of Eastern Europe). The majority of letters from the turn of the 1920s and 1930s is still dealing with the subject of Federation, as well as with the academic peregrination between the universities in Lemberg and Prag.
