Summary/Abstract: The study revaluates influence fo some media on predecessors of modern Slovak journalism. It moves the origins of Fugger written newspapers to year 1541, draws attention to historical songs as an underestimated source of information and emphasises information importance of popular calendars until the middle of the 19th century. It proves that Mercurius Veridicus ex Hungaria was the first Slovak monthly newspaper and reconstructs beginnings of Nova Posoniensia newspaper.
