Summary/Abstract: The study focuses on characteristic features of 18th century journalism and evaluates methods of journalism in age of enlightenment. It proves, based on the latest archive information, that the first editor of Prešpurské noviny was Michal Institoris-Mošovský. It points at the first demands on the freedom of speech and ethical issues of journalism and characterises Czech journalism of that era as an autonomous par of Slovak journalism. The author informs about his findings regarding preparations of Slovak magazine in 1791 based on Banská Bystrica archives.
