Summary/Abstract: The objective of this paper is to define terms: Competition and Cooperation, and show their relationship and how they appear in modern world. The paper also describes characteristics of both categories and causes of their appearance. A separate section deals with the energy sector. It presents specific conditions and frequent cooperation between participants in the energy market. Information for the study was collected from primary and secondary sources, which are adjusted to the situation in B&H. The author’s analyses have also been used. The results should point to the clear difference between terms: Competition and Cooperation and give detailed survey of Cooperation – the way of participant behaving, increasingly present in economic reality. The conclusion of this study is that cooperation is not stressed enough in economy, but it is present in many segments of economy and all market structures, specifically in capital – intensive industries, such as the energy sector.
