Summary/Abstract: Introduction and adequate application of information and communication technologies (ICT) have become a key precondition for achievement of desired level of competitivness and successful functioning in the domestic and particularly in the global market. Our attention will be focused on the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) since they are widely recognized as subjects having a critical role in the process of economic development, particularly in the transition economies. We shall study the impact and contribution that ICT have on the rise of competitiveness and on the improvement of business performances of SMEs. We shall also study various support measures that SMEs need for successful informatization and internationalization. After presenting the current situation in this sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we shall discuss some posible measures supporting the process of informatization and internationalization of SMEs in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
