Summary/Abstract: Risk management in tourism is usually performed at the enterprise level. However, Polish hotel managers still more and more perceive the need to include local authorities and tourism organizations in risk management process, since these institutions could both mitigate the risk and create additional risk factors. This is the consequence of widely defined tourism product structure, the quality of which influences the financial results of hotels. The research conducted in 2012 indicates (though it might seem illogical) that the specific (unsystemic) risk is perceived by hotel managers as an area of higher uncertainty than systemic risk. The reason for this is that specific risk is influenced by the mezzo-level of the enterprise’s environment, which contributes to the quality of regional tourism offer, but remains beyond the control of entrepreneurs.
