Summary/Abstract: Culture is the sphere revealing the parameters of human evolution. A human being cannot exist in uncul-tured environment. Culture as an effective social power is always under the spotlight. In specific researches the cultural status mostly is fixed through creative activities; however it may also be researched in the aspect of education, promotion and expression of sociality. Culture includes every material and spiritual value created by particular activities of every person or social group. Some peculiar codes revealing the ways and potencies of human existence in the society exist in the world history. Culture problems should be priority sphere of the state representing humanistic criteria because it constructs presumptions for a person’s self-expression, creation and perfection. There is a lack of miscellaneous cultural researches in Lithuania. Scientific idea has touched some fragments of the Lithuanian cultural mosaic more or less. Especially it is scant of more intense look at the cultural phenomena. We cannot boast of profound analysis of culture centres. Rather many difficulties arise due to the problem of culture object’s definition. The valency of cultural phenomena, periods of topicality, the effect and decline of cultural values of the past, the establishment of relativistic sense and eclectics of humanitarian methods have caused a variety of “culture’s” definitions This article is aimed to disclose the importance of culture centres for the community and cultural activities of its members through a specific analysis how the culture centre realizes its functions when implementing the established goals in the community.
