The Cement Industry in Bulgaria – Status Quo and Prospects

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present the condition and prospects for the development of cement industry in Bulgaria. In order to reveal the present status quo, main economic figures (on national, European and world level) like: capacity, production, consumption, import and export are exam¬ined. A SWOT analyses is made to forecast the prospects for development of industry and Porter’s model for valuation the industrial structure (the model of five competitive threats) is applied. The author’s thesis is that as a result of the modernization of the plants, the increased consumption of cement and the favorable industrial structure, the cement industry in Bulgaria will develop successfully and dynamically in the next years.
