Summary/Abstract: Recent ethnological fi eld studies, which took place in the villages of Zdravets and Dryanovo, Area of Luki (Summer 2008 and 2009), intended to reconstruct some typological similarities between the famous folk collection Veda Slovena (published at the second half of the 19th century by the Bosnian Stefan Verkovich) and contemporary folklore models in the region of the Rhodope Mountains. This was also a pilot project that aims to contextualize the Veda in the ethnological and folklore parameter of the pomak and rhodope culture, as well as to investigate further on the dynamic folk-mental models of world, space, historicity there. Here we introduce the specific methods, which were developed for the field studies (special catalogues, systematization of motifs, topoi, ritual practices etc; extended questionnaire) and point out some of the noticeable records that show similar mental imaginations of the afterlife, of sacral rulers, of the history as a model of an everlasting summer etc.
