Summary/Abstract: This is the first article to identify, describe and explore, in all its variety, the art contained in the church of Christ's Transfiguration in Šventybrastis. It includes its altars with their paintings, sculptures and wood carvings as well as the pulpit, the organ and choir loft, the baptistery with its individual sculptures and paintings, liturgical appliances and textiles, bells, vessels for sacred water and other aspects. The aim of this article is to explore the various works of arts of this church, treat¬ing them as a whole to better analyze the alteration of the church's interior and reveal its icono-graphical program. The legacy of the church is relatively rich, but the value of its art objects varies significantly. Their chronological distribution is wide, ranging from mid-eighteenth to the end of the twentieth century. Unfortunately, the Church of the Transfiguration of Christ in Šventybrastis lacks archival sources. This article deals with the key facts in the history of the church, such as its initial construction, and establishes the surname of the sponsor responsible for its renovation. Having analyzed the stationary appliances and art works, this article deals with the alteration of the church's interior. In this respect, three major stages of development can be distinguished. The treatment of the iconography of the Church of the Transfiguration of Christ by this article identifies and discusses several major themes, namely those of Jesus Christ, the Holy Virgin Mary and the saints, starting with Saint Barbara. The art value of specific works is also considered. Some are identified as exceptional in terms of their importance, rarity and typology. The works that are present in the Church of the Transfiguration of Christ in Šventybrastis represent the various stages in the historic development of the church. They also indicate the iconographical features specific to the ecclesiastic art of the church of Šventybrastis, as well as their artistic value. The analysis that underpins the present study can be useful in the study of other objects. This article thus serves to enrich knowledge about sacred art and contributes to the con¬stitution of this valuable heritage.
