Summary/Abstract: Between March 17 and April 20, 2011, archaeologists from Buzău County Museum conducted archaeological preventive excavations in Râmnicu – Sărat town. The research took place in the Brâncovenian Complex (Primăverii street, no. 4). The excavations revealed an earlier phase of Constantin Brâncoveanu’s extended fortification, remains from a series of functional constructions – cells, warehouses from the brâncovenian era, materials from the prebrâncovenian phase, ten tombs, archaeological complexes dating from 4th and 6th century AD, traces of 19th and 20th century interventions. The archaeological material consists mainly of fragmentary pottery, bone remains and iron objects.
