The essence of information seeking abilities of secondary school students

Summary/Abstract: In present paper, information seeking abilities of secondary school students have been analyzed. The essence of information seeking abilities has been divided by few parts, taking into account a Big Six model (Information Problem Solving Model): determine all possible sources (planning), information seeking rate, and forms (verbal, textual or visual). How students determine all possible sources of information seeking actions have been investigated. In current paper, the correlation between the information seeking planning and respondent status have been analyzed. The relation between the information seeking planning and sex of respondent is statistical significance (particularly female) is determined. Which kinds of factors incentive for information seeking and which form is better for information gaining of secondary school students have been described. In respondent’s opinion, information seeking more often motivates by teacher – less by parents. Finally, based on case study and data analysis, the studies peculiarities of students, cognitive and behavioural models of studies have been revealed.
