Summary/Abstract: The article deals with problem of relation between fear and democracy in light of relation between order and freedom. The fear we are talking about is tacit, shapeless, overall fear, without clearly named and delineated object. in psychiatry, it is called anxiety, and in philosophy, it is misgivings. The reply to the question of where that abundance of uneasiness comes from in the order considered as being the best found and practiced so far is based on theoretical assumptions of postmodern philosophy and on the basis of analysis of elements of «state of postmodernity»
