Summary/Abstract: This paperwork examines the relationship between state and tourism industry in solving the problems that have emerged with world economic crisis. Dominant trend in the western society since 80-th was market deregulation and reducing the state role. This trend effected tourist policy in the sense that policy was more „entrepreneurship“ than regulatory. The role of state has been subject to many changes. In the 60-th state role was very important, tourism industry itself was not in the position to carry out all the big investment that enabled dynamic tourism development. Today, situation is different. Private sector has strengthened, some state roles are shrinking, other gather importance, and the new ones emerge.
