Possibilities of introducing private insurance in the public health care system in Poland in the opinion of the inhabitants of Tarnowskie Góry county

Summary/Abstract: Introduction: The attempts of reforms in the Polish health care system do not give the desired results. Placing private health insurance appears to be an appropriate tool in financing health care system. The aim of the study is to investigate the opinion of residents of Tarnowskie Góry county about opportunities and threats of introduction of voluntary health insurance in Poland. The research tool was independently designed in a questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed. It has been found out that every fourth person has private health insurance policy. Most respondents see the need for health reform, and every fourth person supports the introduction of supplementary, voluntary health insurance to the general system.
