A Vision of Society and Politics of Modernization Process

Summary/Abstract: The paper attempts to evaluate the ongoing social change in Slovakia from the viewpoint how changing power élites approached to transformation process and what is their potential to offer a modernization project to the society. The author analyzes the government coalition, risen from the elections 1994, and he reveals that in spite of its hybrid character it is unified by interconnection with the so-called residual group and also by its mutual standpoint - exclusion of people of different ideological orientation from cooperation . He points out that Slovakia has not adonted several democratic institutes in the historical- political sense, social change will therefore proceed under the token of not yet finished struggles.
