Sources of Ideas and Conceptualization Problems of the Public Dimension of Social Life

Summary/Abstract: The study gives a review of classical conceptualizations of problems of the „public“ dimension of human activity. It follows two intelectual traditions created by political philosophy and legal sciences, as well as in the creation of sociology and psychology. In the centre of attention is a question what remains productive from this legacy for today and, especially, what does not suit today in the new conditions. Problems that have arisen in conceptualization are being discussed, and theoretical impulses of current authors are being brought to attention. The study offers a notion apparatus for sociological research.
