Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses perceptions of Americans in the Washington Metropolitan Area about Latino immigrants and perceptions of Latinos about their life in the United States. The article is based on field research in Langley Park, a predominantly immigrant neighborhood in Maryland, close to Washington, DC. The research comments major lines of criticism against Hispanic immigrants as well as impressions of immigrants that they encounter discrimination and prejudices in the United States.
