What drives evolution in knowledge based economy?

Summary/Abstract: The article uses the evolutionary metaphor to explain the importance of inter-organizational relationships in the evolution of knowledge based economy. Evolutionary metaphor emphasizes the importance of context. In this area the metaphor indicates that the environment makes the selection of the organization. Contemporary context properties such as turbulence, chaos and high velocity are explained as important exogenous determinants of evolution. Variation understood as a process of adaptation is an important evolutionary mechanism. As a result of the foregoing considerations it is concluded that organizations adapt to the context establishing inter-organizational relationships, in order to benefit every participant in the market game. These benefits are mainly due to the access to knowledge.
