Summary/Abstract: The changes in social-economic and political status, which have come during the last decade in our country, necessitate the reform of national statistics activity. Its basic purpose was to achieve total harmonization in unison with the requirements of International Monetary Fund, World Bank, Statistical Commission at United Nations (UNSTAT), EUROSTAT and the rest international statistical organizations. Harmonization in national statistical system is fulfilled as a process of setting national statistical methodology and practice in keeping with requirements of world and European statistical standards. It concerns not only the structure of statistical authorities, but the organization of statistical researches, the contents of statistical macroindices, qualification of personnel, statistical culture of population and etc. In the article are given the most important preconditions which determine organizing the entire process of harmonization, as well as the principles which have to be observed as a guarantee for achieving qualitative results in the relation of setting national statistics in keeping with modern requirements which have been put in introducing the system of national accounts.
