Summary/Abstract: The ecumenical movement is a reality of our present times, but things are far from being plain and simple. Christian Churches acknowledge as ecumenism the need to commonly assume solutions to some general social and moral issues. But when it comes to a real, effective get-together, be it ecclesiastic or sacramental, betwen the Catholic Church on the one hand the Orthodox Churches on the other, the attempt is blocked by the Catholic principles concerning the Pope`s infailibility anh his primate. This article analyzes the critical stance af the Catholic theologian Hans Küng, regarding the ecclesiologic principles of the Catholic Church.
