Summary/Abstract: In this article Freud and Piaget’s theory of children's magical thinking is presented. There are discussed problems connected with essence of magical thinking, its origin and functions. There are also discussed main contents of this kind of children's thinking and forms in which they are imparted. According to Freud and Piaget magical thinking is natural for young children. In this paper empirical evidence is given, that can violate this common opinion. Young children think magically not always and not everywhere, but only in special situations.
