Employee participation in agricultural companies – a legislative perspective

Summary/Abstract: Various aspects of employee participation in companies of the agricultural sector in Poland are examined, with the main focus on the legislative aspects of the problem under study. Based on empirical findings, the present legislation was found inadequate for the purpose of stimulating the desired attitudes among the employees, resulting principally from the present emphasis on indirect forms of participation. The potential benefits of direct participation in agricultural companies are presented, together with major determinants and action plans in this respect. The study also emphasizes the specificity of co-operative entities in the sector, manifested mainly in the special status of employees as freely associated members of the co-operative organization.
