Summary/Abstract: In May 1929 in Prague - Czech Republic the first congress of UNIMA (Union Internationale des Marionettes) - the international organization of the puppet theaters and puppet actors, directors, art directors, historians and theoreticians, which later becomes a world organization. UNESCO started to develop it and later the organization becomes an associated member. Twelve countries took part in the founding, among them Bulgaria. It is represented by an official and authorized by the Board of Trustees of the Society Slavyanska Beseda artist Elisaveta Konsulova-Vazova and she is to represent the Puppet Theater of the Society. Bulgaria's participation in this great for Bulgaria and the world event played a great role in the development of the Bulgarian and world art of puppetry. The author of the text has researched and published in different journals analysis about the importance and participation of Bulgaria in this important undertaking and the article accents mainly on the detailed presentation of the original documents, which are published for the first time and which convincingly, show the role of the Bulgarian participation. Today still (21st century) in Bulgaria continues to a Bulgarian center that actively supports the widening of international contacts and concern for the development of puppet art in the country and over the world. The Bulgarian UNIMA center has been approved by the Council of Ministers in 11963 and created in 1964. The Bulgarian puppet artists from the very founding of UNIMA up to the present have always taken active part in its governing structures and participated actively in the activities. Today, the Bulgarian Center of UNIMA holds different activities under the title APT (Association of Puppet Theaters) - UNIMA, UNESCO - Bulgaria.
