Summary/Abstract: The text contains a narrative about the puppet “Theatre of Friends” founded by George and Maurice Sand and the groups of friends around it, which took part in its activity. The famous names of Frederic Chopin, Franz Liszt etc. figure among them. The new principles of acting and the technique of the action through puppets are being followed and analyzed, which have laid the foundations of modem puppet theatre, especially the improvisation by means of puppets, which are topical even today. Besides H. von Kleist, George Sand appears to have been the second theoretician of the puppet theatre during the period of Romanticism.
