Summary/Abstract: The carriers of the chanting song tradition from Bulgaria use specific notion, terms and phrases with the help of which to articulate (verbalize) their vocal experience and through which they achieve musical understanding among each other. The researchers of traditional music usually take into account this fact but in spite of this in their analytical interpretations rationalize, describe and analyzed the studied musical cultures mainly through outlined and stabilized in the academic circles musical categories and terms. The present text is focused on musical experimental content which is expressed by the carriers and by the researchers of folklore chant singing through different verbal forms. Differences are outlined between the 'inner' (emic) and 'outer' (etic) speaking about chanting, as well as some characteristics of the 'inner' speaking of the bearers.
