Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the issue known from scientific literature of two dialectological schools – in Krakow and Warsaw. The author describes circumstances determining existence of two circles concentrated around great personalities – Kazimierz Nitsch and Witold Doroszewski. Due to works and organizational activities of both scholars’ students, it is possible to reconstruct complex, multi-threaded facet of Polish dialectology of the 20th and 21st century together with valuable cartographic and lexicographic works, as well as syntheses in which new methodologies and new trends of contemporary linguistics find their reflection.
