Summary/Abstract: The author Jiří GRUŠA was expelled from Czechoslovakia in 1980 and found a new home in the Federal Republic of Germany. The paper explores the question in what way he can – in his role as an author oscillating between two languages and cultures – be considered a cultural intermediary. A number of poems from the collections Der Babylonwald (1991) and Wandersteine (1994) have been chosen to illustrate which images are being transposed within the culture change as a home imagined in literature. Particular attention is being paid to the aesthetic dimension of the texts as well as to the poetic language potential of the texts.
