Redefinition of protection and presentation methods of the architectural heritage in the process of post-war rehabilitation - Čaršija Mosque in Stolac

Summary/Abstract: The reconstruction of the Čaršijska Mosque in Stolac, although challenged at the time of its commencement, highlighted the unquestionable need for the reconstruction of the destroyed distinguishing features of one’s native land. The paper reports on the process of reconstruction of the Čarsija Mosque in Stolac, the reasons justifying the reconstruction and its methods, and shows the steps taken as part of a dual, complementary and integral approach to understanding and estimating heritage from a physical and metaphysical point of view, by applying criteria determining the value and through the intangible purposes of the architectural heritage.
