Investment in knowledge as investment in the future - creating comparative advantages of Poland based on knowledge

Summary/Abstract: Poland has a chance to attract foreign direct investment for a few or even several years thereafter. The revealed comparative advantage indicator has shown a strong position of Poland against its competitors from the region in some knowledge-intensive industries. Having in mind the necessity of creating new advantages in the future, the economy cannot focus only on services that it offers currently due to the cost advantages. The economy should attract interests of investors and external sources of capital to build future advantages in order to develop such sectors as R&D (research and development centers) or knowledge-intensive services.
