Summary/Abstract: The year’s indication in the pontifical letters (bulls, encyclics, apostolic briefs) orders some rules: the letters are making out in Latin language and from the beginning of the Christian era there is used the so- -called Roman dating, based on the three stationary days in the month – calendas, nonas and idas. In past the years in pontifical letters were indicated according to the reign of the kings and pontificate of the pontiffs. From the second half of the 15th century in pontifical letters has predominated year’s indication „since the incarnation, alternatively birth of the Lord“.
