Militari din Pannonia în garda pretoriană (sec. II-III p.Chr.): consideraţii prosopografice
Prosopographical Considerations on the Pannonian Militaries in the Praetorian Guard (2nd-3rd Centuries AD)

Summary/Abstract: The Praetorian Guard was a special unit of the Roman Army during the Principate that ensured the Emperor’s protection. At the beginning, the Praetorian Cohorts included only Roman citizens from the Italic Peninsula. However, starting from the 2nd century AD, the men from the heavily Romanized provinces broke this monopoly. Thereby, starting with the reign of Hadrian, militaries from Pannonia were recruited in the Praetorian Cohorts; their number increased considerably at the end of the 2nd century and the beginning of the 3rd century AD. This study underlines the prosopography of soldiers and officers in the Praetorian Guard and the resulting military, demographical and social aspects. Rezumat: Garda pretoriană a reprezentat un corp privilegiat al armatei romane din timpul Principatului, având rolul de protecţie a împăratului. În cohortele pretoriene erau primiţi numai cetăţenii romani, la început din Peninsula Italică. Totuşi, o dată cu sec. II p.Chr., monopolul deţinut de italici în garda pretoriană este eliminat de militarii originari din provinciile puternic romanizate. Astfel, din vremea domniei lui Hadrian, în cohortele pretoriene regăsim militari care proveneau din Pannonia, numărul lor crescând semnificativ la sfârşitul sec. II şi începutul veacului următor. Acest studiu va avea în vedere prosopografia soldaţilor şi ofiţerilor din garda pretoriană şi considerentele militare, demografice şi sociale care au rezultat în acest sens.
