Summary/Abstract: The work discusses one of the forms of librarian didactics concerning professional practice of the students of the Institute of librarian studies and scientific information at the University of Silesia in Katowice in a theological library of the University of Silesia. The theological library organizes summer professional practice and mid-semester practice for intramural students lasting continuously since 2002. The organization of practice is based on the ministry programme and adjusted to the school and training library needs. The very programme is the basis for the preparation of a detailed plan of classes divided into branches and the scope of workers’ duties. The aim of practice is to familiarize the library science students with the profession to be by means of acquainting them with the organizational structure of the library, work places and library-bibliography-informative duties. An important role is given to a direct contact with readers and information users which allows for examining readers’ interests and needs of different types of information.
